Gundogan: I’m in transfer talks now

Ilkay Gundogan has confirmed that he is in talks to depart Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The Germany international midfielder has been linked with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and a number of Premier League sides, including Manchester United, and though he  would not be drawn on his destination, he confirmed that transfer discussions are ongoing.

“We are holding talks yes, but no decision has been made. I can’t say more than that on this,” he said.

Midfielder Gundogan, 24, added that his future does not definitely lie away from Dortmund.

“I’ll leave it open as to whether they continue or without me.

“BVB are a great team and a really good coach is coming.

“I don’t know how the team will look next season. The challenge will be to get the great potential of this team back on the pitch. We managed to do that too little during the last year.

“In some ways we’re glad this difficult season is over now.”

Dortmund spent the campaign off the pace in the Bundesliga and only qualified for the Europa League on the final day of the season. On Saturday, they lost the DFP-Pokal final 3-1, ending the reign of coach Jurgen Klopp on a disappointing note in the process.
