Man Utd fans tricked into thinking club had re-signed Evra

The Red Devils caused plenty of confusion on their social media accounts after posting an image celebrating the anniversary of the defender’s capture

Manchester United fans were left disappointed after falsely believing the club had re-signed Patrice Evra following an Instagram post praising the defender.

The Red Devils’ official account shared a photograph of the France international with the caption “@Patrice.Evra signed for [Man Utd] on this day in 2006. We loved watching him in a United shirt!”

Unfortunately many fans missed the accompanying text and jumped to the conclusion that Jose Mourinho had brought Evra back to the club.

One disgruntled fan wrote “For one moment I thought he was back” while another replied “@manchesterunited why do you play with our feelings?? Don’t you know we all love you??”

United’s celebratory post has gotten over 1,500 comments, with a large percentage of them initially tricked by the status update.

Evra has been linked with a move away from Juventus in January, but his next destination is not yet clear.
