Amakhosi are expected to beef up Steve Komphela’s squad ahead of the 2016/17 second round

Kaizer Chiefs team manager Bobby Motaung believes that his side stand a good chance of winning this season’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.

Amakhosi are currently placed fourth on the league standings with 24 points from 15 games. They are only a point behind log leaders SuperSport United, who have played 14 games.

“There’s nothing in it. We are one point behind the leaders,” Motaung told Daily Sun.

“Apart from Mamelodi Sundowns who have games in hand, anybody in the top five at present could win the league. That’s what makes this season so interesting and exciting,” he continued.

“We have two goals in the second round. We are challenging for the league and the Nedbank Cup.”

“The turnaround at the end of the year has given the players inspiration and motivation. We believe we can achieve our goals. We are still in with a chance,” Motaung added.

According to the same publication, the Chiefs club official stated that they will be making a signing before the current Transfer Window closes on Tuesday.

“We will make an announcement on players either on Monday or Tuesday,” he said.

Motaung also commented on Ismael Olivier Toure, who underwent unsuccessful trials at Chiefs earlier this month.

The Ivorian defender then failed to get on his flight and he’s reportedly training with Amakhosi’s rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I was looking for a left-sided defender. He was not what we wanted and we sent him home, releasing him back to his club in Ivory Coast,” he continued.

“We took him to the airport and he disappeared. He acted unprofessionally. He is not our player or our concern,” he concluded.

Italian striker Gustavo Paez and Brazilian Pedro Henrique Dias De Amorimo have been training with Amakhosi, while hoping to impress Komphela and his technical team.
