Liverpool agree to loan Sakho to Crystal Palace

Sam Allardyce’s strugglers have agreed a temporary deal for the Frenchman after beating off competition from Swansea and Southampton

Liverpool have agreed a loan deal with Crystal Palace for Mamadou Sakho who will spend the rest of the season at Selhurst Park.

The defender has been frozen out at Anfield after being sent home from the club’s pre-season tour of the USA and has not featured this season.

Goal understands the clubs have agreed a £2 million loan fee with full wages paid for the 26-year-old.

Crystal Palace are believed to have beaten off competition from both Swansea and Southampton who both failed in their attempts to land Sakho.

The Frenchman moved to Anfield from Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 for a fee in the region of £18m but has endured a difficult time on Merseyside.

Sakho will now hope to help Sam Allardyce’s side in their battle to beat the drop, with the Eagles in the bottom three of the Premier League.

The club have already brought in Luka Milivojevic, Patrick van Aanholt and Jeffrey Schlupp this winter as Allardyce looks to revamp his squad.
