Chelsea target Boakye hopes for Stamford Bridge move
Red Star striker Richmond Boakye would love to join Chelsea after being linked with a move in the January transfer window.
The Blues are reported to have been scouting the Ghana international in recent weeks and watched Boakye in Thursday’s Europa League 0-0 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has just two senior strikers in his squad in Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi, and Boakye, who can also play on both wings, would give him another attacking option.

The 24-year-old has already scored 14 goals in 22 games in all competitions for Red Star this season, form which has brought him to the attention of Chelsea.
Boakye is delighted by the prospect of joining Chelsea, telling Belgrade newspaper Novosti. “I am playing well, so we’ll see who will contact me.
“If I’m going to play for Chelsea, then I’ll go.”
The Premier League champions’ strikers have been struggling in front of goal in recent weeks, with record signing Alvaro Morata failing to score in his last six appearances for the club.
Batshuayi, meanwhile, has yet to truly convince Conte of a regular place in the starting line-up and has netted just twice against Watford in his previous six outings.
Conte has already worked with Boakye, as he was Juventus coach when the forward joined the Serie A club in 2012. Boakye had loan spells at Sassuolo and Elche before he was transferred to Atalanta in 2014 on a permanent basis.
He failed to get on the scoresheet for Red Star at the Emirates on Thursday evening and also drew a blank a fortnight ago in Belgrade when Arsenal won 1-0, with Chelsea scouts reportedly in attendance.
Boakye joined Red Star in January, but missed the Africa Cup of Nations that month with Ghana before being brought back into his national team’s squad for the 0-0 draw with Uganda.
