German playmaker Lewis Holtby has expressed his desire to play for the Gunners and revealed he is a huge admirer of the North London club.
The Schalke no.10 has spoken of his eagerness to play in the Premier League and about the fact that it would be a dream move for him to join Arsenal at some point in future. Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering the talented German international as an option in his attempts to rebuilt the squad this summer and fight for the title next season.
“I have always said that my aim is to come to the Premier League one day because I love the league,” Holtby told talkSPORT. “My father is English and of course my favourite teams are Everton and Arsenal.
“It would be a massive move [to Arsenal] because Arsenal players were always my favourite. They play nice one-touch football, they’re offensive, have young players, a great stadium and a great city so it is a nice club.
The player however maintained that he is focused on Schalke but preferred to keep his options open.
“My thoughts now are first with Schalke but you never know,” he added.
The Schalke midfielder will come cheaper as compared to Wenger’s primary targets and could be a shrewd piece of business. The 21 year old is versatile in the center although plays his best out wide, a department where Wenger could do with some reinforcing. With plenty of Bundesliga stars making their way to Premier League, it would be exciting if Holtby manages to seal a switch to the Emirates. What do you think?
