French center-back Laurent Koscielny has urged his fellow countryman Yann M’Vila to join him at Arsenal, and vowed to try and convince him to join.
Arsenal have long been rumored to be interested in M’Vila and it is believed that the talented Rennes midfielder is Wenger’s most important transfer target this summer. Arsenal’s only signing so far has been German striker Lukas Podolski from Bundesliga side Cologne. However, Koscielny believes signing M’Vila would be a great piece of business for the Gunners as he has full confidence that the 21 year old will come good at the North London club.
“I don’t know what plans the club have in terms of signings,’ he told Goal.com.
‘I only see what appears in the newspapers because Wenger tells us nothing about that. But I would like one of my French team-mates to join us for next season.
‘Yann is a player with enormous quality. He is strong on the ball and has great vision.
‘He can triumph in an important competition like the Premier League.’
‘Would he be good at Arsenal? Of course.”
M’Vila recently sustained an ankle injury in a friendly against Serbia and is expected to miss the tournament opener against England. The injury seemed to have jeopardized the move but with the French medical staffs clearly stating that the injury isn’t a serious one, the news is expected to rekindle Wenger’s interest in the player. Koscielny is expected to play a key role as he is hopeful of persuading M’Vila to join him at the Emirates.
‘I will try to convince him to come when we are together at the Euros,’ he added.
Do you think that Arsenal’s defender will play an important part in the transfer?
