La Liga side Malaga have entered the race to sign highly rated Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud, who has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time now.
Malaga side, owned by the Sheikhs of Qatar, were led to a 4th place finish in the La Liga last season and managed to snatch the Champions League qualifiers spot for the first time in club’s history in the process. It is believed, that their Chilean manager Manuel Pellegrini has plenty of money to spend this summer to strengthen the squad for a sustained success in the top of the Spanish league. With veteran Dutch striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy calling his career a day, Pellegrini is looking at Giroud as his possible replacement.
Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the French striker but will find it hard to compete with the big spending Spanish side. Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis recently stated that the club won’t be rushed into things and it is understood that the Gunners won’t break the bank to sign any of their targets to the growing dismay of their fans.
Giroud impressed after coming on as a substitute for France during the friendly against Estonia and is believed to be valued at well above £10m by the French champions.
Where should the talented 25 year old go?
