French full back Mathieu Debuchy becomes the latest to join a list of players to be linked with a move to North London as coach Arsene Wenger prepares to bring adequate reinforcements to Arsenal.
The Lille defender is filling in for the injured Bacary Sagna who suffered a broken leg for the second time in seven months during the final stages of last season which ruled him out of the Euros. Sagna could have been Blanc’s first choice at right back but the 26-year-old Debuchy impressed many during their opening Group D fixture against England.
Arsene Wenger is in a fix as to persist with young star Jenkinson or bring in a better back-up to the Emirates. Sagna is set to miss the pre-season tour to the Far East and Nigeria as well as the early weeks of the next season as he keeps recuperating from the horrible injury he suffered. After giving up on Gregory Van der Wiel, Wenger has turned to Debuchy as the Lille star could come in cheaper in comparison to the Dutchman.
Should Wenger sign another defender or keep faith in young star Carl Jenkinson?
