Eriksen to stay put at Ajax for another year

Ajax’s midfielder and one of the most promising young footballers in Europe, Christian Eriksen has ruled out a move to another club this summer.

The 20 year old Danish playmaker is playing at the Euro championships at the moment, and in a recent interview to De Telegraaf has insisted he wants to stay at Ajax for a year more and continue his development as a player.

“I think it’s worth spending another year at Ajax because what really interests me now is to play and grow as a player.

“I do not need to risk anything and take a wrong step in my career. We’ll see what can happen in summer of 2013.”

Liverpool defender and fellow countryman, Daniel Agger had earlier labeled the young star as an exceptional talent and urged him to stay at Ajax and continue his footballing education. A host of Premier league clubs are interested in the talented Dane including Manchester United and Arsena,l but this news is going to dash their hopes of landing him this summer itself. United are interested in the young playmaker as Sir Alex Ferguson continues to search for a replacement for Paul Scholes, while Wenger is still looking to reconstruct his midfield.
