Manchester United have confirmed the signing of teenage sensation Nick Powell from Crewe Alexandra although the amount is yet to be known.
The 18 year old has been drawing serious interest from plenty of clubs in Premier league including Arsenal and Chelsea but the Reds have finally managed to seal the deal for someone who is touted as an exceptional talent. The League Two side wanted to have Nick for a year further on loan but it seems Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on continuing the young star’s footballing education at Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson told ManUtd.com: “We have scouted Nick for months now. He is an exceptional talent and has been schooled well at Crewe.
“I’m delighted he has chosen to come to United. He has a lot to offer and we are all looking forward to working with him.”
Nick Powell posed happily with United Chief Executive David Gill and seemed elated to move to United. “It really is a dream come true to be signing for Manchester United. I have had a great time at Crewe and I would like to thank them for helping me to develop as a player over the past 13 years,” Powell said.
“I’m excited about continuing my development with Sir Alex and the world-class players in the squad. The thought of making the step up to the Premier League next season is an exciting prospect. I can’t wait to get started.”
Powell is United’s third signing of the season after Shinji Kagawa and Angelo Henriquez joined the Devils earlier this summer.
