Chelsea Set To Rival Arsenal For Debuchy

Chelsea are set to snatch away French right back Mathieu Debuchy from Arsenal’s grasp after their Russian owner have decided to sign him this summer.

Debuchy has been the first choice right-back for Laurent Blanc in Bacary Sagna’s absence and has impressed everyone with his performance so far in the Euros. Arsene Wenger had zeroed in on the Lille defender as the perfect back up for the injury plagued Sagna who continues his recovery from the broken leg that he suffered months ago (for the second time). With the Gunner manager not confident about young star Carl Jenkinson, Debuchy has been mooted as the ideal back up for the North London side.

But it seems that the blue half of London is set to steal the highly rated defender from right under Wenger’s nose after the club lost interest in Ajax man Gregory Van der Wiel. The Blues continue their rebuilding process to reinstate themselves as the champions of England and Debuchy has been identified as the best replacement for the released Jose Bosingwa.

Chelsea have already splurged £40m this summer on Eden Hazard and Marko Marin and a deal involving Porto star Hulk has recently been put off due to the astonishingly high asking price from Portuguese club. Roman Abramovich is believed to outbid their London neighbors for the 26 year old Debuchy and Arsenal could risk losing him unless the player has other intentions.
