Rumors speaking about Alan Dzagoev’s possible move to Arsenal are fast gaining momentum as according to the latest reports the London club have already established contact with CSKA Moscow over a possible move involving the striker.
The 21 year old has caught the attention of many with his stunning performance in the Euros despite the fact that Russia eventually lost the knockout stage qualification. Arsene Wenger has taken a strong interest in the attacking midfielder and is determined to gamble on him even after Arshavin’s supposed failure to adapt to the demands of English football.
Arshavin was sent on a loan deal to Zenit this winter and is expected back in the club for the pre-season trip to the Far East and Nigeria. Arsene Wenger is willing to talk with the Russian club over a permanent move for the player. Dzagoev, who is touted as Arshavin’s successor in the Russian football team, is being targeted as the replacement and may arrive at the Emirates shortly now that Russia returned home from the Euros.
The CSKA star is happy at his club and has no immediate plans to leave but with just half a year left on his current contract, Wenger may manage to get him for cheap. CSKA would want a sum in excess of £13m but it’s learnt that they might be forced into accepting a fee around £10m given they could lose the player for free at the end of the year.
What do you think ? Should Wenger take a gamble again with another promising Russian star?
