Arsenal have signed Montpellier’s striker Olivier Giroud and will formally announce it as soon as the Euro championship comes to an end.
The left footed Frenchman has long been mooted as a possible successor to Robin Van Persie at Arsenal and the club has finally managed to sign the 25 year old striker. It is still not clear if Van Persie will stay on and sign a new contract at the club but a decision is expected to be taken in the next few days after the player returns from a disappointing Euro campaign.
Giroud was being tracked by other clubs as well but the prolific scorer had no doubts which club he should join. With countrymen Bacary Sagna and Laurent Koscielny at the club, Giroud had little trouble to pick the Gunners ahead of the rest.
The details of the deal are yet unknown but it is believed that the fee agreed is in the region of £12m. What do you think about Arsene Wenger’s newest signing?
