United To Bring Over Barcelona’s Alcantara?

Manchester United have turned to Barcelona’s highly rated young star Thiago Alcantara amidst growing speculations over a possible move for Luka Modric to Old Trafford.

United are keen on adding quality to their midfield which has been pretty ordinary last season and the 21 year old Spaniard could be an ideal addition to their squad. With question marks still hanging over Darren Fletcher’s fitness and no concrete return date yet, Sir Alex Ferguson is considering all options. Alcantara who featured on quite a few occasions for the Catalan giants last term, is unsure of his future at the club after Pep Guardiola decided to quit following their ignominious exit from the Champions League.

Paul Scholes has decided to put pen to paper a year’s extension and Fergie is very keen on finding a possible successor this summer so that the new signing could have ample time to adjust to the English game and learn from the likes of Scholes and Ryan Giggs. Brazilian midfielder Anderson is also set to leave the club after failing to make a mark ever since he made his move from Porto. However, Tito Vilanova is believed to be a strong admirer of the young star having worked with him closely at the academy and wouldn’t be interested in letting him leave Camp Nou.
