Porto have confirmed to SkySports that they haven’t received any formal offers for their young winger James Rodriguez.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with the Colombian international this summer but the Portuguese club has denied having been contacted. After the contract talks with Nani fell through with the player reportedly demanding a higher salary, Sir Alex Ferguson is now looking at possible alternatives and the 20 year old could be an ideal replacement for the Portuguese winger.
“We have not received any formal offer for James Rodriguez, only rumours from the papers and that is normal for this time of year,” said a Porto source.
“If something should arrive then we would study it and evaluate the situation, we do know Manchester United and other English clubs have watched various games this year.”
The young star who has been likened to Colombian legend Valderrama joined Porto in the summer of 2010 and has four years remaining in his current contract.
