Chelsea could potentially lose out on their summer target Oscar Cardozo as Galatasaray have established contact with Benfica over the transfer of the Paraguayan striker.
Didier Drogba, Chelsea’s best goal scorer in recent history has been released by the club and has joined Shanghai Shenhua as their Russian billionaire attempts to rebuild the squad around Fernando Torres. However, the Blues are desperate to find a suitable replacement for the departing 34 year old and have zoomed in on the strong Cardozo recently. Chelsea are still interested in Porto’s Hulk but the asking fee has proved to be a building block in the contract negotiations as the Portuguese side aren’t willing to budge from their initial evaluation of the player at £38m.
With uncertainty still looming over Hulk’s transfer, Stamford bridge officials have quickly found themselves an alternative in the 29 year old Cardozo. With Turkish side Galatasaray already having made contact, the Londoners will have to rush if they are serious about landing the striker who netted 20 goals last season. Galatasaray are willing to pay £10m as demanded by Benfica and it is to be seen if Chelsea splash out on Cardozo or bide their time and push through a deal for the Brazilian Hulk.
