City and Chelsea chase Falcao

Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has attracted interest from top clubs across Europe which include Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City, and La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona but the club has reiterated their stand that the player is not for sale.

The former Porto ace was signed last summer by Atletico following the departure of Sergio Aguero to Manchester City and has since been one of the top performers for the Spanish side. The Columbian international guided his club to their second UEFA Cup triumph in three years and has since been the center of attraction of many clubs in Europe. The 26 year old notched up 24 goals in his first season at the Vicente Calderon even European champions Chelsea have been linked with a big money move for the prolific striker.

But the Sporting Director at Atletico Jose Luis Caminero told AS: “The club has very clear ideas on this.”

“Falcao will remain at Atletico Madrid and any talk of an exit is misplaced.

“The striker will remain with us next season and we are not considering any other possibility.”

The club had to shell out an enormous fee to sign the former Porto striker and are determined not to lose him this summer.
