According to latest reports Manchester United have had a £30m bid rejected by Porto for their talented midfielder James Rodriguez.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson have been following the 20 year old Porto winger very keenly and have reportedly made a move for him only for the Primeira League side to turn it down. The Reds made a £30m offer for Rodriguez but Porto are looking for a fee in excess of £40m if they are to be convinced to let the player leave.
Rodriguez recently agreed to incorporate a £40m buy-out clause in his current contract and with 4 years still remaining contract that he signed with the Portuguese club last summer, Porto won’t be rushed into selling the Colombian international.
Following the impasse over Nani’s contract extension, Fergie had made Rodriguez as one of his top targets this summer. But with the enormous transfer money being demanded, the Scot is expected to cool off his interest in the highly talented player. Anderson, who has failed to make a mark at old Trafford ever since he moved there, could be used in the player plus cash deal. However, it’s not likely that Porto would be interested in the Brazilian midfielder given his exploits for the Premier League side for the last couple of seasons.
