Arsene Wenger is considering a move for Atletico Madrid striker Adrian as Gunner captain Robin Van Persie continues to keep the club in the dark about his future.
Unlike past seasons, Arsenal have acted fast in the transfer market this summer and have completed the signings of two strikers already namely Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud. Arsene Wenger has rubbished claims of Van Persie wanting out of the club and has insisted that the Dutchman would sign a contract extension very soon. However, the manager himself is unsure of the 28 year old and realizes the need to explore all possibilities.
24 year old Adrian has emerged as a possible target for the North Londoners should Van Persie choose to leave the club after eight long years. The Spanish international has had a good last season with the Europa League winners and caught the eye of national team coach Vicente Del Bosque which earned him his first international cap. However amidst intense speculation the striker has expressed his desire to stay at the Vicente Calderon.
“I am very happy,” he said. “In my first year we have a title, something that you would expect, and I felt very comfortable with the people in the club. The support of the fans is amazing. I have three years and my idea is to follow.”
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Bayern Munich are also said to be mulling over a possible move for the player after recent talks between Adrian and Atletico over a contract extension stalled.
