Borussia Dortmund face a tough task holding on to their Polish full back as Chelsea set their sights on Lukasz Piszczek as Jose Bosingwa’s replacement.
New Blues manager Roberto Di Matteo has made the signing of a right back the topmost priority this summer after having acquired the services of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin. With Jose Bosingwa’s release and Branislav Ivanovic’s insistence on being employed more centrally next season, Chelsea are in desperate need of a right back. Paolo Ferreira is also likely to be shown the door and the Italian manager who led the Londoners to European triumph last season is looking at Piszczek as the best replacement.
Chelsea were reportedly keen on Ajax defender Gregory Van der Wiel but the high asking price for the 22 year old have seen the Blues cool off their interest. While the highly rated Dortmund defender won’t come for cheap, the 27 year old at the peak of his form could provide the Bundesliga champions a good deal.
Chelsea have also been linked to French defender Mathieu Debuchy but it seems that the officials at the Stamford Bridge are zeroed in on the Dortmund star.
