Talented Brazilian right back Maicon becomes the latest to be linked with a move to big spenders Chelsea this summer as they continue their search for Jose Bosingwa’s replacement.
The European Champions have released Bosingwa this summer and are exploring all possible replacement options. Ajax defender Gregory Van der Wiel , Dortmund’s Lukasz Piszczek and Frenchman Mathieu Debuchy have all been mooted as successors to the departing Portuguese at the Stamford Bridge. But the latest addition to this ever growing list seems to be Inter defender Maicon who has previously been on the radar of the Londoners.
The 30 year old is however, according to many, past his prime and failed to reproduce his 2010-11 form last season. But with Maicon believed to be wanting out from San Siro, Chelsea have taken a note of that and are monitoring the situation keenly.
PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti is also interested in the player and could rival the English club for his signature. Ancelotti has closely followed the defender since his Milan days and remains a strong admirer till date. Chelsea have already signed Eden Hazard from Lille and Marko Marin from Werder Bremen for a cumulative sum of £40m.
