Liverpool Eye Arsenal Target As First Season Transfer

New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is mulling over a move for French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in the wake of Pepe Reina’s imminent departure to AC Milan this summer.

Reina moved to Anfield back in 2005 and has since been one of the pillars of the Liverpool side which failed to qualify for European competitions next season. The Spanish goalkeeper has repeatedly pledged his future to Liverpool but the chance of playing in the Champions League in a Milan shirt might be difficult to turn down.

The Rossoneri coach Massimo Allegri is intending to get themselves a new goalkeeper as he tries to replace the ageing Christian Abbiati. This has opened the door for Hugo Lloris to move to the Premier League and join Liverpool. The 25 year old had earlier expressed his desire to play in England and could be tempted at the prospect of joining the Merseyside club. Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is also a keen admirer of the Lyon custodian and it could well be an uphill task for Liverpool to sign the highly rated player if the Gunners show interest in him.
