Anzhi set to spoil United’s Sneijder plans

Big spenders Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala are ready to steal Inter’s playmaker from Manchester United’s grasp after the Serie A club decided to sell him if the right offer is made.

Inter boss Stramaccioni revealed earlier this week that the club would be forced to consider the sale of their coveted Dutch playmaker if a good offer comes along. Inter finished a disappointing 6th last season in the Serie A and are already planning a major summer reshuffle. Brazilian defender Lucio has already been released while goalkeeper Julio Cesar and Serb midfielder Dejan Stankovic has been told that they are surplus to requirements.

United boss sprung into action to sign the 28 year old who has been on his radar for a couple of seasons now. After missing out Luka Modric, who seems destined to sign for Real Madrid, Sir Alex Ferguson has made the signing of Sneijder his top priority. Manchester City are also close in on their heels and may test their neighbors’ spending power by putting in a bid as well.

Anzhi, who made the headlines a season ago when they signed Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o, are determined to bring the Dutchman to Russia. They are likely to offer a deal worth in excess of £20m to Inter and annual salary of £11m to Sneijder.
