Santos star Paulo Henrique Ganso is being tipped to join Arsenal this summer after the club stepped up on their pursuit of the highly rated playmaker.
We had earlier reported that the Gunners were monitoring the midfielder after Arsene Wenger had shortlisted him as one of the transfer targets this summer. After Moroccan playmaker snubbed the Londoners to commit his immediate future to Montpellier, Wenger has now turned to the Brazilian international and could lodge a bid anytime soon.
Ganso’s current contract with Santos runs till February 2015 but has refused to sign another extension after the club offered him an improved deal worth £112k a week. It is understood that the talebted playmaker would push forth a deal if Arsenal do formally declare their interest in him.
According to Sportsmail, the Gunners were also in the race for Chelsea bound Oscar but eventually lost out to the Blues’ spending power as they wrapped up a £25m deal for the teen wonderkid. However with United concentrating on their interest in Lucas Moura and Chelsea cooling off their interest in Ganso, Arsenal are now the frontrunners to land the Brazilian who has been capped eight times for his country.
