Benfica have entered the race for Real Madrid’s highly-rated winger Jese Rodriguez, who has been courted by English giants Arsenal.
The young midfielder rose to prominence last season with his performances for the Real Madrid B squad. So much so, that he caused a selection headache for Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, who handed the teenager his debut in Madrid’s senior team.
He strengthened his value further by helping Spain clinch the European U-19 Championship, where he scooped the top scorer and most valuable player awards.
Compared to Cristiano Ronaldo himself, Rodriguez is touted to make it big in the coming years. Many clubs have taken notice of this youngster, and Arsenal have reportedly made inquiries.
However, they will face competition now from Portugese outfit Benfica, who too are keen on luring Rodriguez to Portugal.
It will not be an easy task by any means, as they face very strong competition from Arsenal, along with Real Madrid, who are keen to keep the wideman at the Santiago Bernabeu.
