Walcott Due To Follow Robin Out?

After spending a majority of the summer dealing with the Robin van Persie situation, Arsenal have now turned their attentions to English international Theo Walcott, who also has just one year left on his current contract, with an intention of convincing the winger to sign an extension with Arsenal.

Walcott is expected to join the rest of the Arsenal squad, including van Persie on their pre-season Asia tour, and manager Arsene Wenger is expected to sit down and discuss with Walcott, the club’s ambitions for the future, hoping that Walcott would be convinced and sign on the dotted line.

Arsenal have found themselves in this situation several times in recent history, with the likes of Samir Nasri, Mathieu Flamini and now Robin van Persie have been allowed to run down till the last year of their contract, which have seen the first two depart for a high fee, and many expecting van Persie to follow the duo out of the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are desperate to avoid the same fate with Walcott, who joined Arsenal back in 2006 from Southampton.

With crunch talks scheduled very soon, we can expect to see where this story is heading only after the meeting between Wenger and Walcott.
