Shakhtar Donetsk’s star midfielder Willian, who has been heavily linked to European champions Chelsea all summer, is not being allowed to leave the club, as Shakhtar have rejected Chelsea’s bid, and are forcing Willian to stay at the club against his wishes.
Chelsea’s advances have been rebuffed by Shakhtar for the playmaker, who has grown to be considered one of the best in the business. The London club have been looking at him for quite some time, and wish to bring him to Stamford Bridge, however have not been successful in their attempts so far.
Shakhtar’s president recently claimed that Willian is available £23.5million, and surprisingly the coach Mircea Lucescu has revealed that Chelsea’s bid of £25.5million, which very well met the club’s evaluation, was rejected. This has left Willian upset and fuming simultaneously, who spoke to Globo Esporte and lashed out at his employers, ”I don’t know what the coach said, but the correct value is €25million [£19.5million],”
“Regardless of the price, it is clear that the desire is great to play at a club like Chelsea, the champion of the Champions League.
“I’m really upset with the board for not letting me leave. It would be good for me and also for the club.
“I’d be in a big city and have the chance to grow professionally. This is not a message to anyone, everyone knows I want to leave.
“It is a matter of waiting, the hope is the last to die and a lot can happen there.”
