Chelsea Came Calling For Me, Claims German International

German outfit Bayer Leverkusen’s striker Andre Schurrle has revealed that European champions Chelsea made a bid for his services, and has admitted that a move to the London club sounded very tempting.

The English club made a bid for the attacker, thought to be £16million which was turned down by Bayer. Though this has not upset Schurrle, who claims that he totally understands and accepts his club’s decision of turning down the lucrative offer and keeping hold of their prized asset.

Speaking to Kicker magazine, the German international disclosed, ”I don’t think you would find any player in the Bundesliga who would say that they would not at all be interested,”

Chelsea would have been very interesting for me. You don’t get a chance like that very often in your life.”

(Director of sport) Rudi Voller has explained the reasoning to me several times. They could not find a suitable replacement and I am too important to Bayer.”

I can imagine the fans will see me with different eyes now,” he said.

If I play two or three bad games, then it could be difficult for me.”
