Manchester United are still far from signing Brazilian youngster Lucas, claims United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
19-year old Lucas has been widely touted to be the next big thing coming from Brazil, which has got him several interested suitors. The Red Devils too have been desperate to land the highly-rated youngster at Old Trafford this summer, and have reportedly had their massive £30 million bid rejected from Lucas’ club, Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo.
With the teenager currently in London with the Brazilian national team for the Olympics, many expect the playmaker to switch his attentions to his club future whenever Brazil’s Olympic venture ends.
United were thought to have agreed a deal with Sao Paulo over the transfer of Lucas to England, however Sir Alex has intervened and revealed that any deal is far from done now. Speaking to the local media, United’s boss said,
“It’s not correct. We haven’t reached an agreement for the player.
“We have shown an interest, but until such time we get a deal agreed, we can’t say he’s our player.”
