Chelsea And City Readying For Battle As Cavani Nears Exit

The English duo Chelsea and Manchester City have put on red alert as their striking target Edinson Cavani of Napoli is reportedly seeking an exit route from the Italian club.

The giant striker, whose stocks have risen in the past couple of seasons, is highly regarded as one of Europe’s most feared strikers. Thought to be on the radar of several top sides apart from Chelsea and City, Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed earlier this year that the Uruguayan will be allowed to leave Naples only if a big money transfer offer came along.

Currently in London for the Olympic games, the 25-year old is reportedly looking for greener pastures away from Italy and into a top league like the English Premier League. The striker’s agent Mino Raiola too has confirmed that Cavani will leave at the first chance if he was in charge of matters. Speaking to Italian radio station Kiss-Kiss, Raiola said: “Cavani, if he could, he would leave immediately, but the president is not easy in these matters.”
