Wenger confirms that there are no offers for RVP

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that talismanic striker Robin Van Persie is nowhere close to departure as neither of the Manchester clubs have made a proposal.

The 28 year old Dutch forward has been linked with a move away from the Emirates after refusing to sign a contract extension which is set to end at the end of next season. Apparently the reigning Golden Boot winner of the Premier League is keen on a salary close to £200,000 a week, which the Gunners are highly unlikely to offer.

Serie A giants Juventus were also believed to be in the race for his signature but the extraordinary demands of the London club has forced them to cool off their interest. The Manchester clubs remain in the reckoning but Le Professor confirms that none of them are yet to make an offer.

“At the moment I must say that the Van Persie case has not crossed too much my mind,” said Wenger.

“We have no offers, so he is our player. That is it. We have not had any more contact from City or United about him at all.

“I have talked about that, I am not talking about that anymore. Do you understand?

“We must prepare for the season. It is about more than one player.”
