Wenger reacts strongly to RVP rumours

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger once again confirmed that there have been no further offers for want away striker Robin Van Persie.

Van Persie has been persistently linked with a move away from the Emirates after refusing to sign a contract extension earlier this summer with the likes of Manchester United, City and Juventus all interested in the Dutch forward. Juventus recently claimed to have given up on the striker as they see less value in the deal proposed by Arsenal while Manchester clubs silently monitor the situation here.

However, Arsene Wenger reacted strongly to probing over his captain’s future and announced he would not be talking any more about him.

‘We have talked about van Persie. I have talked about van Persie and I’m not talking about that question any more,’ the Frenchman was quoted as saying.

United and City already have had their bids rejected as the Gunners’ are believed to holding up for an offer close to £25m. City boss Roberto Mancini responded rather coyly to Wenger’s remarks and accepted that it would be difficult to prize away the 28 year old from Arsenal.

‘If [Wenger] said this, I think it’s true. Van Persie is one of the best strikers so it’s difficult to buy him,’ Mancini said.
