Nicolas Gaitan’s agent has revealed that no offers have been made for the Benfica star and insists his client is keen on staying in the Primeira Liga.
The 24 year old, who moved to the Lisbon club in 2010, has been attracting interest from Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and most recently Liverpool. Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted at a couple of more signings before the transfer window closes and Gaitan could very well be among them as the Scotsman is in search of a central midfielder. With Darren Fletcher still out for an indefinite period and Anderson seemingly losing the confidence of the manager, United need to bring in a midfielder to put up a strong fight against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.
The player’s agent, Jose Iribarren, has stated there have not been any offers made for the playmaker.
“Gaitan is a Benfica player, and he is happy with them,” Iribarren told the Record.
“I do not know of any offer on the table, I have only seen what was written in the newspapers.
“If an offer appears we would study it but the intention of Nico is to be with Benfica next season.”
