Spain international Santi Cazorla is on the brink of joining Arsenal this weekend according to reports although Malaga refuse to confirm of any deal between the clubs.
The 27 year old former Villareal midfielder has apparently informed his club about his decision to move to the Emirates this summer. Although the La Liga side are trying hard to convince him into staying, an offer of £17m from the Londoners could be hard to turn down given the financial plight the club is in. Malaga CF are currently deep in debts owed to the Spanish government and others through taxes, player transfers and wages which would amount to £40m. The present owners are currently in negotiations with Albanian oil magnate Rezart Taci on a possible takeover and the transfer amount could come in handy to clear off some of the dues.
The deal is reported to have been agreed and the Spaniard is expected to complete his medical this weekend. The supposed transfer amount of £17m would be a new club record for the Londoners who pull their purse strings very carefully. The Gunners are also expected to be completing the deal involving Real Madrid outcast Nuri Sahin very soon although a formal offer has not been made yet.
