Arsenal are now believed to be considering Belgian forward Kevin Mirallas as a cheap alternative for want away striker Robin Van Persie.
The Dutchman’s future at the Emirates is still hanging in the balance as he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal. The 28 year old, however, has traveled to Germany to face Cologne FC in the club’s final friendly game before the new season begins. Arsenal face FC Cologne, on August 12th and Football Odds websites place the Gunners favorite to win.
Kevin Mirallas, 24, is valued by Olympiakos at £6.4m and Merseyside club Liverpool were also reported to have scouted the young Belgian striker. Mirallas, who can also play out wide, has been a prolific goal scorer for the Russian outfit ever since his move in 2010 and is being mooted as a possible replacement for Van Persie.
CSKA Moscow have been chasing the player as well and have already had a bid of £5m rejected and could pose stiff competition to the Gunners’ if they decide to make the move for him. Mirallas would be Arsenal’s fourth signing this summer after Santi Cazorla completed his move earlier in the week.
Arsenal try to strengthen their team in order to tackle the new season, as their objective is to win the Premier League.
