Liverpool and Tottenham would have to shell out £15.9m to land Bologna star Gaston Ramirez according to reports in La Gazetta dello Sport.
The Uruguayan international is one of the most sought after players in this transfer window with Liverpool reportedly in the pole position to get the playmaker’s signature. Bologna’s no.10 is high on Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers’ wishlist as he continues to search for financially viable options in the transfer market after sealing the deal for Roma striker Fabio Borini.
Reports in Italy claim that the cash strapped Merseyside club had a bid of £12.5m rejected last week for Ramirez who impressed greatly for the South Americans in the Olympics. The 21 year old’s agent Pablo Betancourt had said that the player would cost the interested clubs close to £20m although latest news reveal that the Serie A side would accept anything around £16m for the promising youngster.
Bologna would only 70% from the sale of Ramirez while 30% would go to his former club Penarol and hence it is highly unlikely that they would let go off their prized asset for cheap. With Tottenham in the fray, Bologna would do their best to milk the situation as the Londoners stay in search for Luka Modric’s replacement.
