Arsenal, Liverpool join hunt for Barca star

Arsenal and Liverpool are both considering moves for Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello after he was overlooked for the 25-man squad for the next season.

The 20 year old made his break from the much famed Barcelona youth academy La Masia under former manager Pep Guardiola but seems to have failed new boss Vilanova. The new Barca boss opted to leave him out of 25-man squad for next season and hence the young Spaniard is without a shirt number. This decision to leave out Tello has baffled many and the fact that lesser known Barcelona youth stars have been preferred ahead of him signals the end of his stay at Camp Nou.

The Premier League duo would be considering making loan enquiries for Tello although it is uncertain if the La Liga heavyweights would want a temporary deal. Reports suggest that the Catalans would want a permanent deal for the young winger with a buy back clause and it remains to be seen if either Arsene Wenger or Brendan Rodgers would be comfortable with that.

Arsenal have been forced to quit their pursuit of Nuri Sahin after recent comments from Aitor Karanka suggesting the club would keep the Turkey international.
