Atletico Madrid chairman Enrique Cerezo has laughed off Radamel Falcao’s father’s regarding his son’s future, reminding potential suitors that the striker’s contract runs for another four years.
The Colombian has been in fine form in recent weeks, netting back-to-back hat-tricks in his side’s recent wins over Athletic Bilbao and Chelsea.
The 26-year old’s father subsequently claimed his son was keen to make a move to city-rivals Real Madrid, while Goal.com exclusively revealed that Manchester City were preparing a €60m bid for the South American.
“I don’t consider it important if a player does not confirm his intention of leaving,” the Vicente Calderon supremo is quoted as saying by AS.
“A father can talk about his sons, of course, but Falcao has already explained he is very happy here and he still has four years remaining on his contract.”
“We are in a great moment now, very happy. We have to keep calm: Falcao is not leaving.”
Atletico Madrid will return to domestic duty when they welcome Rayo Vallecano on September 16.
