Baresi tells Cassano: Talk less and play more

Franco Baresi has asked Antonio Cassano to focus on restricting his talking to the pitch, after the Inter striker recently launched a tirade of attacks against AC Milan and club CEO Adriano Galliani.

The 30-year-old crossed the divide in a swap deal, with Giampaolo Pazzini moving the other way, and was quick to blame undisclosed circumstances as the reason behind his supposed desire to leave Massimiliano Allegri’s outfit.

“I won’t comment on Cassano but in some situations it would be better to play a bit more and talk a bit less,” briefly stated Baresi, who was speaking to Milan Channel.

Cassano was just one of the many high-profile names to leave San Siro in the summer, but Baresi is keeping his faith in what he believes to be an increasingly youthful side.

“I hope [Mattia] Di Sciglio will have a long career with Milan, while [Nigel] De Jong is a player with character and technique. The frontline is young and I hope they’ll do well. Pato should be back soon too.

“It’s not easy to start again after all the players that’ve left, but Milan will be competitive this year as well.”

The former league champions bounced back from a shock opening-day defeat to Sampdoria by winning 3-1 at Bologna, with new signing Pazzini scoring a hat-trick.
