New York Red Bulls announced the signing of defender Digao, the younger brother of Real Madrid star Kaka, who was previously a free agent.
The 27-year-old joined AC Milan in 2005, but only managed to make one Serie A appearance for the Rossoneri, and was farmed out on loan to several clubs.
His contract at San Siro expired in 2011, but impressed the MLS side on a trial and won a permanent move to the Red Bull Arena on a one-year deal.
“Digao has impressed our coaching staff during his trial in the past week and we want to continue evaluating him for the remainder of the season,” the club’s sporting director Erik Soler told reporters.
“He has earned a solid amount of experience for a number of European sides and we are glad to add him to our roster.”
