The agent of Robert Lewandowski has made it clear that the striker is not thinking about leaving Borussia Dortmund at this point, as he is committed to seeing out his contract with the Bundesliga champions.

The Poland international and BVB have been in talks about an extension to his current deal, which ends in the summer of 2014, but his hefty wage demands have so far proved to be too much of an obstacle.

Lewandowski, who is currently on a salary of €1.5 million, reportedly wants to earn as much as star players Mario Gotze and Marco Reus, who make €5m per season, but Dortmund are reluctant to offer him more than €3m per year.

Nevertheless, even though talks have hit a stumbling block, his representative Maik Barthel has insisted that his client is not thinking about a transfer just yet.

“We are not thinking about a potential move to a European top club at this point,” he told Goal.com.

“We have an ongoing contract with Dortmund, and we’re fully aware of the terms of the deal when we signed it. We will honour his current deal.

“That doesn’t mean that we can’t say it when another team is interested in signing Robert, though.

“Fortunately, the transfer window is already closed and Robert’s completely focused on Borussia Dortmund.

“He’s only thinking about the Bundesliga season, the next DFB Pokal trophy, and Champions League progress.

“Robert is the best striker in the Bundesliga football-wise, and still has plenty of room for improvement. He doesn’t get as much attention as some of the other players at BVB.

“That’s an advantage for Robert and allows him to develop quietly.”

Lewandowski has progressed into a key player at Signal Iduna Park since arriving from Lech Poznan in 2010, with 42 goals in 96 official appearances.
