With the end of every year comes the propsect of a fresh new start in the 12 months to come, and many footballers will get the chance in January to tee themselves up for a brand new beginning in 2014.

The Bosman rule allows those players whose current contract expires in the summer to speak with new clubs come January 1 in a bid to secure a pre-contract agreement ahead of a July move.

Serie A could well see its fair share of such moves, with a great number of players currently on expiring contracts. Among them are star names including Andrea Pirlo, Diego Milito, Miroslav Klose and David Pizarro.
