The Switzerland international will be out of contract next summer and could be allowed to leave St. Jakob-Park during the January transfer window
Basel defender Fabian Schar has admitted that he would jump at the chance to join Juventus, Inter or AC Milan.
The 22-year-old is considered one of the most promising centre-backs in Europe and has been linked with a number of the continent’s top clubs, including Premier League outfit Arsenal.
However, Schar has admitted that Serie A is also a very real option for him should Basel receive an acceptable fee for his services during the January transfer window.
“I really couldn’t say no to a club like Juventus, Inter or AC Milan,” the Switzerland international told Blick.
“We’re talking with Basel but at the moment and I want to concentrate only on what’s happening on the pitch.
“But I must say that if there is the possibility of playing in a foreign league, this would be high on my list [of goals]. I have always said it: if a good opportunity presents itself, I will try to take it.
“I need to try to play in a team with great prospects, although obviously I would need the okay from Basel.
“I just want to think in peace [about the situation], analysing all of the possibilities.”
Schar, who represented his country at World Cup 2014 in Brazil, will be out of contract next summer.
