Harry Redknapp may miss out on the former Catania defender with the Serie A side looking to gazump the Premier League strugglers

Napoli are showing an interest in former Catania defender Pablo Alvarez and are set to rival QPR to the Argentine’s signature.
The 30-year-old is currently a free agent and joined the English side for training last week as he looked to prove his fitness ahead of an expected move to Loftus Road.
The defender is eager to play in the Premier League, but the west Londoners now face rival interest from around Europe as he has been offered the chance of a quick return to Italy with Rafa Benitez’s club.
“Benitez wants to bolster his squad and sees Alvarez as the perfect option, but he knows the player is keen on playing in England,” a Napoli source confirmed to Goal.
Alvarez is now considering his options as he awaits a contract offer from QPR, but if a deal is not forthcoming in the next few days then he looks set move elsewhere.
