The Germany international, who came through the youth team ranks at the BayArena, has agreed a four-year contract with BVB
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that they have completed the signing of Gonzalo Castro from Bayer Leverkusen.
The midfielder, who has been capped five times by Germany, has agreed a four-year contract with BVB but admitted that it will be a wrench to leave the BayArena.
“I wanted to give a new impetus to my career,” Castro stated. “But It was no easy decision.
“I had a fantastic time in Leverkusen all these years. The club will be in my heart forever.”
BVB sporting director Michael Zorc believes that Castro will prove a valuable and versatile addition to the squad.
“We’re delighted,” he added. “In Gonzalo Castro we’ve acquired an experienced, technical adept midfielder who can play in a number of positions.”
Castro has been a regular in the Leverkusen line-up since breaking into the first team in 2005 and made 285 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring 21 times in the process.
