The Southampton boss has revealed a move for the Feyenoord captain is dependent on whether his star midfielder leaves St Mary’s this summer
Ronald Koeman has revealed Feyenoord star Jordy Clasie is a potential replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin should the Frenchman leave Southampton in the upcoming transfer window.
The Saints have been reported to be plotting a move to lure Clasie away from Feyenoord – the club Koeman left to take over at St Mary’s last June.
Koeman signed Graziano Pelle from Feyenoord shortly after his arrival at Southampton, and Netherlands international Clasie – the Eredivisie side’s captain – recently admitted that he could also leave De Kuip.
Schneiderlin, meanwhile, is the subject of interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, though Saints have placed a €35 million asking price on their star midfielder, who revealed on Monday that he wants to join a club in the Champions League.
Koeman told Fox Sports: “At the moment there has not been any contact [for Clasie]. There is interest for a number of our players, including Schneiderlin. If Schneiderlin leaves, Jordy Clasie is on our list.”
