The Eredivisie side confirmed that the midfielder will not feature in their upcoming friendly matches as he looks to discuss a possible summer transfer
Feyenoord have announced that Jordy Clasie will miss their upcoming friendly matches in order to allow the midfielder to explore transfer options.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked to a move away from De Kuip this summer after another stellar campaign in the Eredivisie.
Southampton are said to be the main club interested in acquiring the Netherlands international, though there has been reported interest from other clubs in England, Italy and Germany.
“Jordy Clasie will not play against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Sunday. The reason is that concrete interest has been shown for the captain from another club,” Feyenoord tweeted from their official account.
“The club and player have therefore agreed that he will not play as long as talks on a possible transfer are ongoing.”
Clasie scored two goals and set up a further five in 31 Eredivisie appearances last season for the Rotterdam club.
