Manchester City talks affecting De Bruyne, says Hecking
The Wolfsburg boss has admitted that the Belgium international is not in the best shape due to the ongoing uncertainty about his future
Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking believes the ongoing talks about a transfer to Manchester City are wearing out Kevin De Bruyne both mentally and physically.
The Belgium international is continually being linked with a move away from Wolfsburg after a sublime 2014-15 campaign and City are keen to lure him back to the Premier League after his previous spell with Chelsea.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are willing to break their transfer record for a second time this year in order to get their man, believing a sum of £50 million could be enough to force Wolfsburg’s hand.
The 24-year-old’s future remains undecided for now, though, and his coach has admitted the ongoing transfer saga is starting to affect the midfield ace as he ended Wednesday’s training after just 60 minutes.
“Kevin is a bit tired at the moment because there is so much happening around him,” Hecking was quoted as saying by Bild.
“He finds himself in a situation that is on his mind all the time, just like it has been over the past few weeks.
“We are just trying to get him in the best shape possible.”
De Bruyne’s contract with Wolfsburg runs until June 2019.
