The Zambia international’s three year spell on the South Coast has come to an end after the goal-shy striker agreed personal terms with the Ligue 2 club

Southampton forward Emmanuel Mayuka has joined French second division side Metz after signing a three-year contract with the club.

The 24-year-old, who arrived on the South Coast in 2012 from Swiss side Young Boys, failed to find the back of the net in 16 appearances for the Saints and leaves St. Mary’s Stadium without a league goal to his name.

Manager Ronald Koeman stripped the attacker of his squad number ahead of the 2015-16 campaign and did not travel to Holland for the club’s pre-season tour after being told he was no longer needed.

The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer has experience of playing in France during his time on loan with Ligue Un side Sochaux in 2011.
